I developed a passion for film at the young age of 8 and began learning my craft in 9th grade at G-Star School of the Arts for Motion Pictures and Broadcasting in West Palm Beach, Florida. Although I loved film, I transferred from the school to pursue another passion, baseball. For the remainder of high school, I attended Lake Worth Christian to play ball with plans on playing in college. Unfortunately though, (or in a way I guess you can say fortunately), I injured my arm in 12 grade which led me to pick back up the camera and really pursue film at a professional level. When I moved to Myrtle Beach in the summer of 2011, Tye was actually my first ever Music Video shoot and the video, “Est. 1993” was the beginning of a strong, on going business relationship and friendship.
When Tye approached me with “Live Your Life” at the end of September, now 2013, we had already shot numerous videos together but he really wanted to top the predecessors with this one. I heard the song and absolutely loved it. I think it was a week later that I started preproduction on it, banging out a slew of storyboards and treatments that I ran by him. Tye has always trusted me and my creative eye that I’ve developed over the years, and I’ve always enjoyed bringing something different to the table so for “Live Your Life” we decided Charleston would be the best and most unique location to start production. Ironically though, I’ve only been to Charleston twice before and hated it. I knew though, that my return for a third time would prove my previous thoughts wrong and it did so in every way possible. I saw Charleston’s true beauty going to places like long and trippy graffiti alleys, quaint beaches, breathtaking historic buildings and views and even booming nightlife parties. In fact, at the end of production, we had so much to work with that I still have at least 20 gb of unused footage!
By the time I got home and finished editing the video, I knew that we not only set a high bar for future videos of ours, but we really had an aesthetically captivating visual that really implements Charleston’s beauty and Tye’s idea of “Living Your Life”. This collaboration is one that I will always remember and I just want to congratulate Tye on the release and say happy birthday buddy. Also, a big shout out goes to Where We Stand Magazine and everyone who helped make this video possible as well as Glow Street, Tye’s management. Couldn’t have done it without you guys.
