With both artist coming from Columbia, SC, they are able to add a new wrinkle to the fashion industry through eyes and ideas that have not been touched before. Every item from Too Legend is flushed with passion, care, and style.
What does fashion mean to you?
Everything!. Fashion gives you a chance to express your personality, background, and how you view the world. As well as how others view you.
How would you define your city’s fashion?
We are from Columbia, South Carolina. It’s two of us in Too Legend. Black Kazuya and Sentrell.
Sentrell is currently at Georgia Perimeter College in Atlanta, Ga. Kazuya was at the Art Institute of Charlotte before he moved to Atlanta so he has to wait until next semester to enroll here in Georgia.
Atlanta is in a transitional phase. There are people who still dress like it’s 2005. Then we have some people who know a little bit about current fashion but aren’t really into it all the way. Then there are people who either really are into fashion, or copy the people who are. Atlanta has a lot of people who are still stuck in there old ways or aren’t open minded enough to try new things so it’s frustrating seeing the same outfits around here all the time.
When did you realize you wanted to become a fashion designer?
About a year and a half ago, we both were always into fashion, but we just had a deep conversation on the phone one day last summer that really started it all. We knew we already had a good fan base from home, so we took our fashion tastes and ran with it.
Of course we love designing, we both make music as well. Kazuya is well versed in free hand drawing while Sentrell has a keen eye for photography. Outside of that, we love to play basketball, travel, and style people as well as ourselves.
What was the first article of clothing you ever designed?
The first thing we ever created was our original Too Legend black long sleeve shirt. It was supposed to be a crew neck but I had accidentally ordered the wrong shirt lol but people loved it. It had the baby blue and fuchsia sphinx that we created on the front, with Too Legend under it in yellow. We still get requests for that shirt to this day!
How long does it usually take you to construct a piece?
It depends. If it’s just a graphic for a shirt it might take a few days, but for our more advanced items like our Hoodies and Coach jackets it takes a few weeks or possibly months. We really strive to take our time to ensure that we come up with the highest quality and the most unique garments.
Who is one of your favorite local models to work with & how do you go about selecting them?
We look for interesting faces and nice body builds. If we like their look, we want them. Plain and simple.
We’ve worked with a few models but maybe my good friend Eunique. @euniqel21 She’s from Boston but I met her in Miami on a shoot. She’s really beautiful you all should check her out!
Describe the general process you go through to design and realize a piece of clothing.
It usually always starts with us just talking about anything, then as usual it turns into a fashion discussion. Then from there if we both feel passionately about it we hit the drawing board, create it on the computer or sew it together! Our ideas are always left field but also organic at the same time.

YES! We are musical artist as well as traditional artist. We are photographers, painters, designers, everything.
What matters to you most as a fashion designer?
That we put out something that we really love, and not just because that certain fad is “hot”. Coming from SC, we’ve seen a lot of un-original people. We will never be one of those people.
What’s your favorite part about conceptualizing a design?
Usually once we have the final product in our hands. That’s when we can finally breath a sigh of relief. We come up with soooo many designs it’s always good when we finally settle on one and bring it to life.
How do you prepare for a fashion shoot or show?
We brainstorm a month in advance. Then we start slimming down ideas that we want to actually implement in the shoot.
Do you prefer sketching designs or actually constructing them?
.Actually constructing them. It brings everything to life
Tell me about the process of sketching a design. What kind of paper and pencil/pen do you use?
When it comes to sketch its basic. We use a graphite pencil and draw our ideas on trace paper.
